TERMS OF AWARDS AND CREATIVE COMPETITION The National Union of Journalists of
Ukraine
Award of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, highly awarded for works
in various genres of journalism and journalism, created by members of NUJU
printed in periodicals or broadcast by television and radio, and received wide
public recognition.
Under the terms of tenders, to move its work for the award of the National
Union of Journalists of Ukraine may be all the regional and grassroots
organizations NUJU, boards of newspapers and magazines, television and radio
editors, as well as labor groups, individual groups of citizens.
By competitive materials attached addresses editorial staff, their accounts are
reported names and patronymic names of journalists, home addresses.
The Commission for awards, prizes and creative competitions depending on the
quality of creative works has the right not to award individual awards, and
within the approved estimates of the incentive to enter, setting the
secretariat NUJU the revision of their size.
Upon recommendation of the Commission, the issue of awarding prizes NUJU
secretariat considers and adopts the corresponding resolution.
"JOURNALIST OF THE YEAR"
The honorary title is given to employees of the press, television and radio,
news agencies, freelance authors.
Best journalist of the year is:
- Outstanding personality in journalism, high professional, creative works
which affect the soul of his fellow patriotic intent, truthfulness and purity
of intentions in defending the ideals of national revival in Ukraine, the
interests of its people, democracy and humanism;
- A prominent journalist with a strong journalistic talent, which can quickly,
with a deep knowledge of the matter affect his word on the progress of the socio-political,
economic and cultural life in the state;
- A courageous and principled man, loyal to his duty, which is alien to
populism, conservatism, a sense of envy and biased approach to the mapping of
the facts of reality;
- A specialist with a strong civil position, which causes the child's active
participation in the processes of nationalization, consolidation, unity,
harmony and peace in society.
Be awarded: two awards in the category of professional media workers, and one -
in the category of freelance authors.
Award "Golden Pen"
Is awarded for significant creative achievements of Journalists (a series of
articles in the press or broadcast on television or radio material), which
caused a wide resonance in the political life of the country, region, district,
leaving a noticeable trace of Ukrainian journalism. Competition makes
concentration of employees of the pen and the ether on a deep and objective
understanding of the transition of Ukraine on a path of market relations,
business, professional assessment of different life situations, the facts of
our reality, promote the adoption of Ukrainian democratic statehood and
enduring cultural values, a revival of national culture.
The competition involved edition republican, provincial, regional and district
media.
To encourage employees of the press, television and radio sets, five prizes
which are awarded to journalists:
- Provincial, regional newspapers;
- Urban, regional newspapers;
- Regional and large-circulation newspapers;
- Television and radio.
"Photojournalist of the Year"
Awarded for the best series of photographs published in the media.

These titles are awarded to the best papers for a highly professional systematic

These titles are awarded to the best teams the media, which are appropriate
subjects in the public interest.
BEST PRIMARY Journalistic organizations "
The main parameters under which to assess the work of the primary journalistic
organizations are:
- Care about the working conditions and enhancing the creative skills of media
professionals;
- Protection of the laws guaranteed the rights of journalists, active
participation in their appraisal; Union members participate in creative
competitions - vnutriredaktsionnyh, regional and national;
- A creative community, the business cooperation with journalists'
organizations of its region and beyond;
- The development of democratic principles in the editorial team, support the
good old traditions and new forms of journalism, promote the implementation of

Contest Results summed annually in May.

CABINET OF MINISTERS OF UKRAINE RESOLUTION DATED 26 NOVEMBER 2003 ON THE PRIZE
Ivan Franko OF INFORMATION ACTIVITIES
Cabinet decides:
1. Accept the proposal of the State Committee for Television and Radio
Broadcasting and the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine for the
restoration of the award named after Ivan Franko in information activities.
2. To establish that the day of birth of Ivan Franko - August 27, annually
awarded four awards the Ivan Franko's information activities in the amount of 2
000 hryvnia, each with the funds provided for that purpose in the state budget
to the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting.
The prize is awarded by the Committee, acting on a voluntary basis, which
consists of representatives from the State Committee for Television and
Broadcasting, Ministry of Culture and Arts, Ministry of Education and Science,
the National Union of Journalists and other creative unions.
3. State Committee for Television and Radio in coordination with the Ministry
of Culture and Arts, the National Union of Journalists over the past two months
to approve the provision of the award named after Ivan Franko in information
activities, the committee for its award, and the composition of this committee.

TERMS OF AWARD Ivan Franko OF INFORMATION ACTIVITIES
1. Award of the Ivan Franko in information activities (hereinafter - the award)
is awarded annually to authors of the new original journalistic works in the
field of information activities that promote the historical memory of the
people, their national consciousness and identity, to governmentalization and
democratization of Ukrainian society. The works must be published (made public)
in finished form in the past three years, but not later than six months prior
to their submission for the award.
2. The prize is awarded each year to the day of birth of Ivan Franko - August
27, amounting to two thousand hryvnia for each of the funds allocated for these
purposes in the State budget and distributed by the State Committee for
Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine in the following nominations:
for the best publication in the print media;
for the best work in the television field
for the best work in the field of broadcasting;
for the best scientific work in the information sphere.
3. For the award may be nominated work as individuals and creative teams of no
more than five people.
4. The same candidate can not be simultaneously nominated for the award with
two or more works. Re-Prize may be awarded for outstanding new developments in
information activities, but not earlier than five years after the previous
award.
5. Prize may be awarded to Ukrainian citizens, foreigners and stateless persons.
6. The prizes daily, May 1, is served:
- A motion to award the prize from a brief description of the work and its
author;
- Copy of work on a physical medium to confirm its promulgation;
- Copy of passport (in case of nomination for the award of the collective -
copies of passports for each member of the team). 7. During the day the
nomination of a work for the award shall be the date of filing the documents
listed in paragraph 6 of the Regulations.
8. For consideration, the competitive selection of works of contenders for the
award, determine and award winners, created the Committee on Prizes consisting
of fifteen people, which operates on a voluntary basis.
Composition of the Committee composed of representatives of the State Committee
for Television and Broadcasting, Ministry of Culture and Arts, Ministry of
Education and Science, National Academy of Sciences, Academy of Arts, the
National Union of Journalists and other creative unions. The Committee is
headed by Chairman of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting
of Ukraine (hereinafter - the State Committee).
Personal composition of the Committee approved the order of the State
Committee.
Committee, in accordance with the tasks assigned to it, considering the
documents referred to in paragraph 6 of the Regulations, makes a selection of
candidates for the award.
The core of the committee are meetings that are held as needed. Meetings of the
Committee, the President or on behalf of the Chairman of the committee - his
deputy.
Meetings of the Committee are eligible if they are present at least two-thirds
of its members.
The Committee's decision to award the prize is taken by open vote by a majority
vote of members present. If the voting results were equally divided - the voice
of the head is crucial.
9. Organizational support of the Committee, including the reception and
preparation of the documents referred to in paragraph 6 of the Regulations
implementing the State Committee.
10. Payment of Awards shall be in accordance with the order of the State
Committee on the basis of the decision of the Committee.
11. Man, which awards shall be assigned the title of laureate of the Ivan
Franko in information activities and awarded a diploma and a monetary reward.
12. If the prize is given to several persons, each winner receives a
certificate and cash award is divided equally between them.
13. Diploma awarded to the winner of the deceased in a solemn ceremony the
Chairman of the Committee or on behalf of the Chairman of the Committee as his
deputy.
14. Diploma of the deceased prizewinner and check the Prize become the heritage
in the manner prescribed by law.
